Phobic Shadows and Moonlit Meadows – Group Exhibition

Ryan Joseph Gallery is delighted to share our next exhibition, group exhibition, Phobic Shadows and Moonlit Meadows.
This exhibition will take us on a journey into a realm of art that we have yet to directly explore; Dark, Macabre, Dark Surreal and Dark Fantasy.
Until now we’ve been reluctant to delve into the world of themed exhibitions. From our perspective, it seemed unnatural to request artists to paint with limitations and restricted creative freedom. As a way to navigate through these thoughts, we decided to select a title for a group exhibition, curate a line-up of artists that fit into the envisioned aesthetic and ask the artists to create work based on their interpretation of the exhibition title.
Although we’ve been longtime fans of Dark, Macabre, Dark Surreal and Dark Fantasy artwork, only recently have we begun to incorporate these aesthetics into the gallery’s programming.
This will be the first, but not the last, of our exploration of the dark art exhibitions / “themed” exhibitions. We’re looking forward to sharing this idea with you all and incorporating this type of exhibition into the gallery in the future.
